Case and Drawer Materials

We provide three choices of case materials. These are white melamine over particle board, white vinyl over plywood, and natural birch plywood. Our drawer boxes are offered in four different materials and five drawer slide options

Case Materials

White Melamine - This material has a particleboard core with a low-pressure melamine finish on both sides. Melamine is a chemical process: resins are impregnated into a textured sheet of paper, then pressed on the particleboard at 275 - 300 psi at temperatures of 280°F - 300°F for 60 seconds. The resins have been chemically bonded to the particleboard by heat and pressure. Melamine is easy to clean, repels liquids and is also extremely abrasion resistant.

White Plywood - Plywood cases offer superior strength and durability. The 5-ply (or layered) softwood core with hardwood face veneers is overlaid with an abrasive resistant 1/8" white vinyl foil.

Birch Plywood - Birch plywood cases are also available with a pre-finished birch veneer applied on both sides. The top finish coat also has UV inhibitors to reduce yellowing.   To compliment the birch plywood case, we suggest you consider one of our birch plywood drawer box options.

White Plywood - Drawer box material is ½" thick plywood with a white vinyl foil on two sides. All drawers 30" or wider have a center divider, with the exception of deep drawers. A strong glue joint is used to fasten the pieces to each other. 

Birch Plywood - These drawers are constructed with ½" solid Baltic birch plywood and is joined together with a classic box joint. 

White Birch Dovetail - Hertco takes great pride in offering this furniture quality drawer system. Manufactured with 5/8" solid birch sides and a 1/2" plywood bottom, birch hardwood dovetail drawers are finished in a natural lacquer, with tandem (concealed) Blum hardware. Truly "top drawer"!
